Easterly Artists member Ni Gooding is exhibiting in March with three other artists – Jean McIntosh and Ed & Jane Mitchell Finch – at the CraftCo Gallery, 40A High Street, Southwold.
Dates: 3-28 March. Opening times: Monday-Sunday, 11am-4pm (closed 1-2pm daily and all day Wednesday).
The phrase “making your mark” originates in archery, where it signifies hitting the target – however, Easterly Artists members must have missed the memo, as none of them own a bow and arrow. Instead, they have been cleaning their brushes, wetting their pottery wheels and sharpening their chisels for their new exhibition Making Our Mark at the Ferini Art Gallery in Pakefield.
The group has grown in numbers recently, so a record 24 artists will be presenting their interpretations of the theme in an awe-inspiring variety of mediums, ranging from painting in oil and acrylics, screenprint, mixed media collage, digital illustration and ceramics to less well-known art forms such as Dorodango and sculptural assemblages using found objects.
Making Our Mark opens on Friday 5 November and runs till Sunday 9 January at the Ferini Gallery, 27-29 All Saints Road, Pakefield NR33 0JL. Opening times are 11am-4pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and entry is free.
Presenting a face-to-face exhibition in Lowestoft for the first time in two years, Easterly Artists’ Summer Exhibition Heritage! opens on Friday 10 September at The Art Gallery in the Old High Street.
Pink Silence
Housed in the much missed and recently reopened historic mid-16th Century Merchant House Gallery, now given a new lease of life as The Art Gallery, Heritage! forms part of this year’s Lowestoft Heritage Open Days celebrations – see www.heritageopendays.org.uk for details.
The exhibition runs from Friday 10 till Sunday 19 September (closed Monday 13 September). Opening times are 10am – 5pm and entry is free. The Art Gallery is at 102 High Street, Lowestoft NR32 1XW.
Following the success of their two previous “virtual” art exhibitions, “Moving On” provides the first opportunity in over a year for Easterly Artists members to display their work in a physical space.
Everyone knows lock-down has been difficult for all artists, both financially and creatively – but, with restrictions easing after so many months of uncertainty, perhaps it’s at last time to peer over the parapet and allow hope to flourish again. With work ranging across painting, print-making, leporello, ceramics, digital illustration, dorodango and artistic wood-turning, this latest show represents that new spirit of hope and optimism.
Please make a date (and tell your friends) to listen out for the Radio Suffolk interviews featuring six Easterly Artists members for the duration of the “In Isolation” exhibition. at 7.45pm every Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
To hear a recording of the interview(s), visit each artist’s individual page.
An online art exhibition opening 6.30 pm on Friday 8th May and closing at 6.30pm on Sunday 31st May
“In Isolation”. The exhibition features some of the most creative artistic talents in Lowestoft and the surrounding area. Over a dozen artists are presenting their work, all based on their own interpretation of what it means to live through, deal with and continue to create in a period of prolonged physical and social isolation.
A key feature of the exhibition is that all the artists are donating their work for nothing. As a result, all the pieces will be available for the public to download completely free of charge. For simplicity, they will all be in A4 format, making it easy for visitors to download and print them on a home computer and printer.
Due to the Covid 19 Coronovirus Pandemic monthly meetings of Easterly have been replaced with online video conferencing.
Planned exhibitions including participation in First Light Festival and WBA Potton Hall have been cancelled. Online activities are being considered.
