Easterly Artists is a not-for-profit collective of like-minded artists. It formed in 2018 as a mutually supportive group to promote art and the practice of local visual art, and to encourage awareness and appreciation of members’ work. Members are all practising artists living and/or working within a 20-mile radius of Ness Point, the most easterly part of the UK mainland.
The group encompasses a wide range of media from painting to drawing, printmaking to ceramics, dorodango to artistic wood-turning and leporello to found objects.
We usually meet once a month. Attendance is not compulsory but does form an important aspect of the group’s activity, as a key objective is sharing ideas and knowledge through personal contact. Among other subjects, we plan future exhibitions of members’ work and review our previous shows.
We encourage members to participate in the various activities on a regular basis, both for their own benefit and for that of the group. We always adopt an inclusive approach to allow for a range of experiences and backgrounds, in the same spirit of mutual endeavour and collaboration with which the group was founded.
