Hilary Barry, Liz Goulding and Ally Zawadzki have all had work selected for the ‘Black Shuck and Friends’ exhibition at The Bell Gallery in Bungay.

The exhibition showcases work celebrating the myths, legends and folklore of East Anglia and coincides with the Black Shuck Festival, held each year in Bungay (the festival runs from 2nd to 4th August 2024).

The legend of Black Shuck tells of a wild black dog that entered Bungay’s St Mary’s Church during a violent storm on 4 August 1577. The animal then reappeared at Blythburgh church, where the beast was trapped and its claw marks, burned into the surface of the door, can be seen to this day.

The Bell Gallery is located at 40 Earsham St, Bungay, Suffolk NR35 1AQ and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4:30pm.
With over 150 exhibits from artists, there’s so much to see! The gallery will also be open until late serving drinks on 2nd and 3rd August.
