‘sea-farers’
Watercolour and collaged work celebrating Southwold’s coastal heritage.
Dates: March 3rd to April 26th (excluding Mondays)
Times: 8:30am to 3pm

Ruth’s first solo exhibition of 2026 will be held in ’The Canteen’, a community café nestled away from Southwold’s bustling high-street, and within the Old Hospital Hub on Field Stile Lane. The Old Hospital has become the community heart of Southwold and is also home to Southwold Library, the Geography Fieldwork Academy and in the near future, a community gym. The hub’s ever-expanding community projects support hundreds of local people. The Canteen has been a second home for Ruth over the recent years.
As an all year round sea swimmer, (member of Sole Bay Swimmers), and with a love for the beautifully un-glamorous ‘Blackshore’ (Southwold Harbour), she presents pieces expressing her love for this great seaside town, and concerns for the increasing coastal erosion on this eastern edge of the UK.
Work is for sale in the show.
Postcards, greeting cards and Photobooks will also be on sale on the days Ruth will spend time making on site. Follow her Instagram posts for dates and times of these @ruthmccabeartist8420
FIRST artist in residence: Thursday 5 March 11 to 1pm. Just drop in.
The Canteen serves delicious, quality, house-made and locally-sourced food and speciality coffee.
