Easterly Artists is a group of visual artists based at the eastern-most edge of the UK mainland.
Please make a date (and tell your friends) to listen out for the Radio Suffolk interviews featuring six Easterly Artists members for the duration of the “In Isolation” exhibition. at 7.45pm every Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

An online art exhibition opening 6.30 pm on Friday 8th May and closing at 6.30pm on Sunday 31st May
“In Isolation”. The exhibition features some of the most creative artistic talents in Lowestoft and the surrounding area. Over a dozen artists are presenting their work, all based on their own interpretation of what it means to live through, deal with and continue to create in a period of prolonged physical and social isolation.
A key feature of the exhibition is that all the artists are donating their work for nothing. As a result, all the pieces will be available for the public to download completely free of charge. For simplicity, they will all be in A4 format, making it easy for visitors to download and print them on a home computer and printer.
Due to the Covid 19 Coronovirus Pandemic monthly meetings of Easterly have been replaced with online video conferencing.
Planned exhibitions including participation in First Light Festival and WBA Potton Hall have been cancelled. Online activities are being considered.
For 4 weeks only, Lowestoft’s old Poundstretcher building transforms into an exciting pop-up contemporary art gallery, with a fantastic exhibition of paintings, drawings, prints, collagraphs, ceramics, wall hangings in wood, sculpture and other creative works presented by local artists group, Easterly Artists.

After the successful inaugural Easterly open studios event last year members of Easterly will be again opening their studios in June this year as part of the Easterly artists trail. This year the trail has grown to feature twelve local artists.
This event coincides with Suffolk Open Studios of which a number of the Easterly artists are also members.

originalprojects; are hosting two free exhibition at their new venue Ex Marks the Spot. There is a choice of Brilliant Folk Art, an exhibition of Jaodong Window Paper-Cutting and Two Points East & The Art of the Book Cover, covering Judith Ellis’ illustrated book that presents a view of maritime Norfolk.
Ex Marks the Spot is located at 3-7 King Street, Great Yarmouth (the old Marks and Spencer site), and is open noon to 6pm Thurs, Fri and Sat.
Easterly have negotiated a short term lease on a unit in the Britten Centre, to bring a 6 week group exhibition to Lowestoft town centre adjacent the Library.

Lowestoft and the surrounding area has many great assets, beautiful sandy beaches, gateway to the Broads National Park, a growing off shore energy sector and the first place to see the sunrise in the UK, but there is also a sense that we could do more with them and a desire to fully realise the area’s undoubted potential. Waveney District Council have enlisted the expertise of thinkingplace, the UK’s leading place branding agency to develop a Place ‘Story’ and ‘Brand’ for Lowestoft.
A story would benefit Lowestoft to talk about aspiration, pride and retaining talent and be positive about the place. The story will shape our approach to tourism, culture, where we invest in our town centre, what kind of infrastructure we need and what kind of businesses we should encourage to relocate here. It will be the building block to Lowestoft’s future, but to have the greatest impact it needs to be shaped and owned by as many people as possible. This is where you can get involved: thinkingplace will be running a workshop in Lowestoft where community and business representatives can hear more about the work being undertaken and feed their views in.
