Simon Turner-1

Simon alternates between London and Suffolk, and works in a wide range of media. He is a trained furniture maker and silversmith but also dabbles in textiles, sewing. More recently, he has been painting on lovely Suffolk timber, sourced locally. His work involves a lot of masking tape and scary scalpels, and he uses the Suffolk heaths, reed beds and coast as a focus for his work.

Simon has exhibited both in Suffolk and London and is presently exploring more use of colour after a long period of just using black acrylics on wood.

He is involved in a number of East Anglian art groups such as Inspired by Becker, Art for Cure and Suffolk Craft Society and also organises art exhibitions for students plus the work of students from a school in India.

His tiny house in Kessingland is soon to be the venue for art shows once the current lock-down has finished and he will be working from an equally tiny studio with views of the fields, sea and huge wind turbines.

Simon is also an assistant headteacher in a school where he runs all the co-curricular activities, but Suffolk is where he really likes to be!
