Paula Symonds
FROM THE JOY OF THE 60s …… TO THE CHAOS OF 2020s
My Practise, provoking thought and emotion on life events, through my images. People ask me if I am a war artist? My reply NO, I try to portray the consequences of war. War and oppression are the enemy of progress. It has no geography.

I hope in the process my work portrays the destructive ways of war. As a artist my existence is built on emotion and expression.

EVERY ACTION HAS A CONSEQUENCE
I was born in Great Yarmouth 1947 and attended Great Yarmouth College of Art and Studied Fine Art Sculpture, I found it hard to be financially successful as a Sculptor, so I trained as a Cabinet Maker with a Prestigious Norwich Furniture Manufacturer, this gave me the opportunity to bring my Skills set and Attributes together.

I set up my own design and manufacturing company, working with architects, mostly designing and manufacturing furniture for Blue Chip companies and banks in London.
In the late 1980s, deep recession caused me to diversify in another area, being Puppetry and art therapy within the mental health sector.

Since retiring I have a fragmented myriad of interest and have returned to my love for Sculpture, using mediums of Ceramics, wood, plaster. My other interest is photography and two dimensional works working in oil and pastels.

At present my project I am currently working on is the Human Condition (Suffering) which is apt for the present world situations.

I am also interested in Decay, which has a natural beauty (the imperfect becomes the perfect).

My other interest is erosion, which my photography takes part in this.
